Hello world,
Summer is in full swing here in London which is why I've been spending more time out in the sun than in my flat typing blog posts. However, I've not been too busy to use up a good amount of beauty products.
Haircare
Lush "Big" Sea Salt Shampoo - During my years of working for Lush I've gone through many pots of this shampoo. I really like how texturised it makes my hair feel and how it defines my curls, which is why I will definitely repurchase it in the future.
Michael Van Clarke "3''' more inches" Conditioner - I'm a really big fan of the Michael Van Clarke "3''' more inches" pre wash treatment so I was excited to use this conditioner. It had a very nice effect on my hair, which felt stronger and more defined. As I'm trying to treat my hair with lots of strengthening ingredients at the moment, and this product contains hydrolyzed Keratin, there is a strong possibility that I might be repurchasing this in the future.
Liz Earle "Botanical Shine" Conditioner - I once bought this conditioner on a whim at Heathrow Airport whilst waiting for a delayed flight, so I didn't expect too much from it. I was pleasantly surprised as it made my hair super soft and its smell was lovely. However, it was one of those products that I immediately forgot once I put it into the bag which I keep my used up products in, so I'm probably not going to be repurchasing it in the near future, because I just wasn't blown away by it.
DevaCurl Supercream Coconut Curl Styler - I absolutely loved this hair moisturiser-slash-styling product, which is why I also included it in my March 2018 Favourites post. The only downside to this product is that it ran out after only one month, and this, in conjunction with the hefty price tag - 24.99 pounds for 150 ml -, has stopped me from repurchasing it so far. Since I've discovered some really great curl defining and retexturising product this month, I might go for another bottle of the Supercream soon, to see if it's worth it to invest in the additional product or I'm better off just sticking to my new discoveries (which I'll blog about soon).
ORS Black Seed Oil - This product had a very pleasant scent and a decent moisturising effect on my hair. However, I didn't notice any positive effect on my sensitive and often itchy scalp, which was the purpose I bought it for. This is why I won't buy it again.
Skincare
Shu Uemura "Skin Purifyer" Anti/Oxi Cleansing Oil - I'm a big fan of cleansing oils and this one was no different. My skin felt clean and not dried out after using it and it had a really noticeable positive effect on skin texture. However, unfortunately it didn't work very well to to remove or prevent blackheads or blemishes, which is one of my essential needs from a cleanser. This is why I don't think I'll repurchase it anytime soon.
Body care
Korres "Bergamot Pear" Body Milk - I really loved this body lotion's summery fragrance and the fact that it had light texture and sank into the skin quickly whilst still being very hydrating. Since I like variety and change with my body moisturisers, I will probably not buy this again any time soon but would still highly recommend it.
L'Occitane "Verveine Agrumes" Cooling Deodorant - I adore most things about this deodorant, like it's scent and the fact it's aluminum free and that its effect was flawless. Since I also love the brand L'Occitane and what it stands for, the only downside of this product is its price tag - investing 17 pounds in a product to apply under my armpits makes even a beauty junkie like me think twice. However, since it is one of the best deodorants I've ever tried I'd highly recommend it to anyone for who money isn't as much of a concern when it comes to beauty - since the product's quality won't disappoint.
Shower
Rituals "The Ritual of Sakura" Softening Rice Scrub - The scent of the Rituals "Sakura" line has been one of my favourite fragrances for the longest time, and I especially love it in a body scrub. In the past I've used a version of this product which came in a tub, but that was sometimes a bit tricky to use as the exfoliator (which I believe was sea salt) and the moisturising oils separated easily, leaving the product crumbly and scratchy. I much prefer this new version in a tube, as it's much easier to apply and keeps its consistency, whilst still having the same amazing scent as the old version. I will definitely repurchase this and highly recommend anyone to try it.
Lush "Butterball" Shower Gel - The Butterball bath bomb is one of my favourite Lush products, so when the Lush Kitchen announced the release of a limited edition Butterball shower gel I knew I had to get it. And even though I ended up missing it online because I was busy with work, I still managed to secure two bottles on eBay. I really love its incredibly indulgent consistency and its chocolatey smell. Another positive was that I ended up using it to cleanse my newest tattoo when it was fresh and it had a beautiful soothing effect, contributing to the healing process. If it was ever released again I would definitely buy another bottle.
Lush "The Olive Branch" Shower Gel - I've absolutely adored this shower gel ever since I started working for Lush. It has one of my favorite fragrances in the whole Lush range and I also love how incredibly moisturized, yet non greasy, it makes my skin feel. I will definitely buy it again once I've used up a bit more of my very extensive shower gel collection, and I would also buy any other products released with the same fragrance - it's just so good!
Lush "Oaty Dreamy Creamy" Oat Milk Shower Cream - I got to try this shower cream before it was even released and I absolutely loved it from the beginning. Its thick texture and dreamy rose and lavender scent are so luxurious and made me grab it on a regular basis for a relaxing shower in the evening, to destress and get my mind and body ready for sleep. This is why I will definitely repurchase it.
Lush "Rub Rub Rub" Shower Scrub - I really enjoy the light fresh and floral fragrance of Rub Rub Rub as well as the way it makes my skin feel squeaky clean but hydrated at the same time. I've repurchased it many times and definitely will buy it again in the future.
Lush "Ro's Argan" Body Conditioner - I'm quite lazy when it comes to moisturising my skin because I'm always on the go and unfortunately I lack the patience to wait for a body lotion to sink into my skin. This is why I love the concept of body conditioners - you apply them in the shower on wet skin, let them sink in for a short time and rinse the excess off. This way when you come out of the shower your skin is hydrated and soft but you can immediately go about your day and not worry about getting product residue on your clothes. With this specific body conditioner, I liked the effect it had on my skin and even though its scent more nutty than I remembered it - this might have had to do with how long I've had this tub in my drawers - I will definitely repurchase it when I feel like I need to have that extra bit of hydration for my skin.
Naked products (not pictured)
Again I am super happy to be able to include some packaging free products that I've used up as I'm trying to be much more conscious of the amount of waste I'm producing.
Lush "Cherryish" Naked Body Scrub - I absolutely love this product and have already talked about it in the beginning of the year in my January 2018 Favourites post. Since then my opinion hasn't changed - I'm in love with the scrub's scent and its effect and have already repurchased it.
Lush "Golden Pear" Soap - Usually I'm not overly excited about any hand soaps and just see them as a necessity but this product changed that. I was completely in love with its amazing good-enough-to-eat fragrance and its super softening effect on the hands. I'm glad I have some more Golden Pears as back up and hope they will last me until Christmas, when I hope this beauty will be released again.
Lush "Purple Loosestrife" Soap - I've written about this product in my Lush Mother's Day 2018 products review and as I mentioned in that post I did end up using it as a hand soap, but in that capacity I really enjoyed it. Since it was a limited edition product I can't repurchase it right now but if it was to be released again I would recommend anyone who likes a floral soap to try it.
Make Up
Bobbi Brown Corrector "Porcelain Peach" - Concealer is one of the few make up products I use on a daily basis so I'm happy to invest a little more into using a high quality one. This corrector from Bobbi Brown was so amazing at balancing out dark shadows under my eyes that I didn't even need to purchase and use the concealer that you're meant to use on top of it. It also lasted for ages despite its small size. This is why I could definitely see myself using it again.
Mac Powder Blush "Well Dressed" - This blush was my go-to for a natural flush and I was actually really sad when I used it up since I loved its look and how pigmented and long lasting it was. Since finishing "Well Dressed" I've bought a similar light pink coloured blush from Mac, however, I'm already regretting not just going for "Well Dressed" again. Lesson learned: If it ain't broke - don't fix it.
May x
