Beauty Review: Lush Labs Limited Edition Showergels - Avocado Wash & Sultana

Hello world,
as a long time fan of Lush I have some firm favorite products, and I get excited every time a limited edition is released that features the scent of one of those products in some way. This is why there was no question that I needed to order some shower gels from the Lush Labs' most recent product release: "Sultana" and "Avocado Wash"

"Sultana" Shower Gel

"Sultana of Soap" was the first Lush soap I ever purchased and I've loved its scent ever since but I prefer shower gels to soap due to my skin needing quite a lot of moisture. This is why the "Sultana" shower gel being released was like a dream come true for me.

Having tried the shower gel several times by now I can say its smell is very similar, however not 100% identical, to the soap's, which might be due to some added ingredients which you can't find in the soap (Apricot Infusion, Currant Infusion and Cranberry Infusion).

"Avocado Wash" Shower Gel

I still remember my first visit to Lush Oxford Street: The shop offered over 200 exclusive products at the time so as much as I wanted to buy everything, I had to budget and limit my purchases. Avocado Co-Wash, a hair product that is 80% conditioner and 20% shampoo, made the cut, thanks to it's promised effect and it's absolutely divine scent, that reminds me of a delicious cocktail. Unfortunately it turned out that Avocado Co-Wash is a bit too rich for my hair to use it on a regular basis - this is why I was incredibly excited at the prospect of getting another product with this fragrance into my shower routine.

When I tried the shower gel I wasn't disappointed - it indeed smells almost identical, maybe a tad bit more citrus-y but the difference is minuscule. "Avocado Wash"'s ingredients list reveals that it contains the same essential oils as the hair product to create the unique fragrance so I'd say the small difference in smell is probably due to the fact that Lush products are handmade and thus the amounts of scenting ingredients that are used in them are naturally likely to be slightly different from batch to batch.

Both shower gels leave my skin feeling almost as moisturised as Lush's shower creams, despite not containing any butters. However they do feature Carrageenan Extract - a very moisturising gel extracted from seaweed - on their ingredients lists, which might be the reason for this effect.
Thankfully the smell of both gels also lasts on the skin for a fair amount of time, and longer than most other Lush shower gels, which is why I'd wholeheartedly recommend anyone who loves "Sultana of Soap" and/or "Avocado Co-Wash" and wants a bit more of the fragrance of these products in their lives to give either or both of these shower gels a go once/if they get restocked.

May x
